Projects
I work on ancient languages from two directions: as a developer building tools for analysing Greek and Latin, and as a reader and translator of the texts themselves.
The two apps here come out of the same problem I hit in my own reading. Enoda deals with the grammar in front of you; Remeta deals with the vocabulary you need before you get there. Neither of them translates for you.
Featured project
Enoda
In developmentThe classical-language equivalent of an inline grammar checker.
A macOS app that parses classical and Homeric Greek and classical Latin directly where you are reading, in a document or in a browser.
- Word-level morphological parsing
- Construction and syntax analysis
- Literary devices and idioms
It deliberately doesn’t translate and doesn’t use AI. That was a deliberate choice, and there is a section on the page explaining why.
Also building
Remeta
In developmentMy second attempt at building software around language, this time around vocabulary acquisition rather than grammatical analysis. A vocabulary app for widening the vocabulary of your own language or learning a new one: swipe through words, save the ones worth keeping, build a streak and challenge friends, across all seven languages I set out to cover.
Classics & Diffusion Models
EarlyWhere machine learning and classical texts overlap. Early, and there is not much to show yet.

Translations
Greek & Latin, with parallel textThis is the reading the projects came out of: my own translations of Plato, Thucydides, Catullus and Virgil, with the original alongside each one.
